Hurricane Shutter OrdinanceThe City of Parkland passed an ordinance requiring that hurricane shutters be removed no more than 10 consecutive days after a storm watch or warning has been lifted to prevent loss of life in case of fire. There are exceptions. If tropical storm formation is expected to result in a watch within 48 hours after the 10 days, the shutters may remain in place until this new threat has passed. The 10 day period begins again with a new storm.
