Quarterly dues are now $135 for 2010.  The increase is due to many additional costs, including foreclosures in the community, and other increasing costs.  The dues have been kept to the lowest possible amount.

Hurricane Shutter Ordinance

The City of Parkland passed an ordinance requiring that hurricane shutters be removed no more than 10 consecutive days after a storm watch or warning has been lifted to prevent loss of life in case of fire.  There are exceptions.  If tropical storm formation is expected to result in a watch within 48 hours after the 10 days, the shutters may remain in place until this new threat has passed.  The 10 day period begins again with a new storm.

Most Frequent Complaints by Residents
bullet

Cars parked on the street overnight.  This is not only a nuisance and prohibited in the homeowners documents, it is a safety hazard.  In many parts of the community cars are parked on both sides of the road.  This results in a narrow opening that may block or delay large emergency vehicles. Please park your vehicles in your garage or driveway.

bullet

Dog owners that allow their dogs to remain outside unattended and allow them to bark, howl, and yelp at all hours.  Some owners regularly allow these dogs to remain out including times specifically defined by the City and the Declaration of Covenants of Parkwood (9:30 PM - 8:30 AM).

Please be considerate of your neighbors, and kind to your pet.  Keep it inside if left alone.
